Fall / Winter
Learning is essential to living a rich life. Petcher Seeds learns every day by studying each plant and how it may help our friends on their farms. This job is never done, and we continually strive to keep learning. The more we learn, the more we realize we have only touched the tip of the iceberg as to what remains to be discovered.
One of the most frequent responses we receive from our friends is how much they enjoy learning together and passing this knowledge on to others. We hope you can use the information presented below to better grow cover crops… and if you make a discovery, we’re always happy to learn from you in turn!
Please do not miss the Fall / Winter window of opportunity to plant a cover crop!
Soils always do better if covered well during every month of the year. As crops are harvested, you’ll find that the sooner you get a cover crop planted, the better your soil will be. During the Summer, the crops being grown do not absorb all of the fertilizer and nutrients that are given to them. Planting a cover crop captures all the residual nutrients during the winter months and enriches the soil for the next Spring crop. If you do not plant a cover crop these nutrients will be totally lost.
We encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity! If one of our products doesn’t work on your farm, give us a call so we can all learn together. We give you our best—products and wishes—and we hope your experience is rewarding!
