Often, this reduces weeds and the need for herbicides on the following crop. Its deep roots scavenge for nutrients and bring up lost Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potash. It also provides high yielding forage for livestock.
Wrens Abruzzi cereal rye prefers well-drained, sandy loam but it can tolerate most soil. Ideal pH is between 5.5 and 8.0, with an ideal soil temperature of 50°F.
