Purple Top Turnips prefer Sandy, loam soils. Ideal pH is between 5.8 and 7.0, with an ideal soil temperature of 50°F or above. The seed is best planted between August and October, at a depth between 1/4" and 1/2”. Add 80 lbs. of Nitrogen, and add additional Phosphorus and Potash based on a soil test. This plant will grow very rapidly.
