Marshall Annual Ryegrass is very forgiving of wet soil, more so than other Winter grazing crops. Ideal pH is wide, between 5.8 and 6.8, however it id forgiving on this front as well. An ideal soil temperature is 40 °F. The seed is best planted during the Fall, at a depth between 1/4" and 1/2". It will take 30 lbs. of Nitrogen at planting, and then sidedness during growing season. Add Phosphorus and Potash based on soil test. It grows fairly slowly during the Fall and then provides good Spring growth until April and early May.
